If you’re even remotely fond of coffee, Blue Tokai is bound to ring a bell. Known for bringing artisanal coffee culture to the Indian mainstream, this homegrown roaster champions single-origin beans and brewing methods that elevate coffee beyond the ordinary. The Koramangala branch, though modest in space, exudes a comforting calm, the kind that coffee lovers instantly tune into. The scent of freshly ground beans fills the air, and the soft hum of conversation from fellow caffeine devotees makes it the perfect little urban retreat.

What I love most about Blue Tokai is how it subtly educates without intimidating. Whether you prefer your brew through Chemex, Aeropress, or the good old French Press, they make you appreciate what each method brings to the cup. Add to that their collaboration with Mason and Co Chocolate, India’s own bean-to-bar, vegan chocolate brand and you have a setup that’s as mindful as it is delicious. The seating is limited, but I did luck out with a window spot that framed the bustle of Koramangala beautifully. Coffee in hand, street views ahead, and time on pause.

Avocado Toast with Poached Egg – Rs 276 + Rs 95

Simple, fresh, and indulgent in the most effortless way. The crusty toast acts as the perfect base for buttery mashed avocado seasoned with salt, pepper, and just a hint of citrus. Add a poached egg on top and you’ve got the ideal breakfast trifecta! creamy, runny, and just a little messy. The yolk spilling over the avocado is a sight and taste that never disappoints. It’s balanced, nutrient-rich, and comfort food at its cleanest.

Smoked Chicken Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough – Rs 285

This dish easily took the crown that morning. The scrambled eggs were light, fluffy, and gently seasoned, exactly how they should be, while the smoky, tender chicken bits added a lovely savoury edge. What tied it all together was the whole wheat sourdough sprinkled with nutty dukkah seasoning. The texture of the bread leaned a bit dense, but the spice mix, reminiscent of za’atar, gave it both crunch and depth. Every bite offered warmth, comfort, and a subtle reminder that good food doesn’t need fanfare, just balance.

Iced Americano – Rs 152

Now this is where Blue Tokai truly shines. Their Iced Americano hits with precision — strong, bold, and clean. The first sip is all sharp bitterness, followed by a gradual bloom of nutty undertones. It’s a caffeine jolt that feels purposeful. For those who like it intense (like I do), an added espresso shot transforms it into something darkly thrilling, the kind of drink that slaps you awake and keeps you wanting more.

Cappuccino – Rs 180

If the Americano is the rebel, the Cappuccino is the poet. Smooth, creamy, and beautifully textured, this one’s the gentler cousin that comforts rather than challenges. The milk foam is airy but substantial, blending seamlessly with the espresso beneath. It’s a balanced cup neither too strong nor too sweet, the perfect companion to an early morning read or a mid-day reset.
